Ford F-250

You may have already evaluated the 2022 Ford F-250 and 2022 Ram 2500 if you need a reliable pickup truck for your next ride. They're both high-quality trucks from reputable manufacturers, built to haul, and out perform other models on the market. Both the Ford F-250 and the RAM 2500 are regular front-runners in their segment.

But which model has the best capacity and features for your needs? Take a few minutes to go through our Ford F-250 vs. Ram 2500 comparison to discover all you need to know about these trucks to make a decision about which is best for you.

Performance

The standard 2022 Ford F-250 is powered by a 6.2L V8 engine that produces 385 horsepower and 430 lb.-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the standard 2022 Ram 2500 has a 6.4L HEMI® V8 engine that produces 410 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft of torque. With 475 horsepower and 1,050 lb.-ft of torque, the 6.7L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel engine takes the Ford F-250 over the top. When it comes to accelerating from a standstill, the F-250 has an edge.

Depending on the model level, the Ram 2500 has a gasoline tank size of 32 gallons, which will keep you on the road for an extended period. The Ford F-250 model, on the other hand, has a gasoline tank capacity of up to 34 gallons, which is a fantastic quantity that will allow you to drive even farther before your next fuel break.

While rear-wheel drive is standard on both vehicles, all-wheel drive is optional for added traction. There are two rear wheel setups: single rear-wheel (SRW) and dual rear wheel (DRW), and you'll notice more stability and towing capability with the latter.

Towing

No truck is complete without a capacity to tow. If you need to transport more toys or work equipment from one location to another, the F-250 and Ram 2500 are up to the task. When fitted with an optional diesel engine, the Ram 2500 can pull up to 20,000 pounds when trailering. The F-250, on the other hand, outperforms the competition with a maximum conventional towing capacity of 24,200 pounds.

While the Ram 2500 has an impressive available cargo-view camera that gives you a clear view of the cargo bed, the F-250 model's available Trailer Reverse Guidance, which uses cameras in the side view mirrors and visual guides on the touchscreen to help you see exactly where the trailer is going as you back up, is a class-exclusive feature.

Technology

Both the Ford  F-250 and the RAM 2500 are equipped with many comparable tech features which are designed to enhance your comfort and driving experience. Quality infotainment systems—SYNC® 3 in the F-250 and Uconnect® in the Ram 2500—are available with 8-inch-plus touchscreens.

With Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, these systems provide a simple connection. The home screen of your smartphone may be mirrored on the vehicle's touchscreen! From any number of map applications, you may control your playlists, check your messages, and get directions to your location.

The Ford F-250 technology package includes a few unique features that are not present in the Ram 2500. One is the included 360-degree camera system, which allows you to view everything surrounding your truck at slower speeds. The optional massaging seats in the F-250 variant provide an added level of comfort that the Ram 2500 lacks.

Interior

Trucks are no longer just bare-bones workhorses. You may customize the interiors of the 2022 Ford F-250 and the 2022 Ram 2500 with the most luxurious elements. For example, the F-250 Limited has two-tone Camelback leather seats, and the Ram 2500 Limited also has a lot of leather and wood.

Sunroofs allow light to shine in, brightening your day—or revealing the starry skies at night. The F-250 has a panoramic sunroof that allows front and back passengers to see the sky. While the Ram 2500 sunroof may provide additional light and ventilation, it does not extend to the back seats.

Whichever pickup you select, you'll have a roomy cabin with lots of space to relax. Backseat passengers will be comfortable since the rear compartment can fit both children and adults with plenty of room to spare for their gear.

Safety

The 2022 Ford F-250 and Ram 2500 place a premium on safety, which they demonstrate with a slew of driver-assistive technologies. The F-250 model's optional Trailer Reverse Guidance has previously been discussed, but that's not all these Ford truck offers. You may also make use of Ford Co-Pilot360TM features like:

  • Automatic Emergency Braking and Pre-Collision Assist
  • BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System with Trailer Coverage Lane-Keeping Alert) is a blind spot information system with trailer coverage.
  • Collision Warning and Adaptive Cruise Control

Although the Ram 2500 has Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking, and LaneSense® Lane Departure Warning, it lacks a number of the safety features available in the Ford F-250.

Final words

While the Ford F-250 and RAM 2500 are comparable in many ways, they have some key differences that are important to consider when making a purchase decision. With these differences in mind, you are better equipped to select which pickup is best for you.
